In class, we've created Twitter accounts for the purpose of connecting with others that have similar interests in education. I, personally, am not a huge fan of twitter as a network as it does on show portions of the world's full picture (this is often forgotten). I've mainly used Twitter as a networking platform for larger organizations within the education field such as TCEA in Dallas. In the future, I could see it as a way of keeping updates on myself and my career for those to see, as well as a small look into my personality.
As I mentioned earlier, platforms such as Twitter only show a portion of the picture due to the Digital Divide. For starters everything is that is seen by a user is tailored by data they discreetly have collected on as they continue to use the internet. So, if one student uses the internet often, they are able to stay up to date on a variety of things in comparison to those who have limited access or don't use the internet as often. There may even be students in my future classrooms who don't have access to the technology they need to have an even playing field, however, I prefer connecting to my students face-to-face anyway.
While in the classrooms (if the school permits), I would love to include a bit of software in the classroom to keep attentiveness up. For one example, kahoot is a competitive and visual way to actively test the students retentiveness. It worked on me when I was growing up. Another piece of software I found recently that I would also like to implement is called SmartMusic. There is a possibility I end up teaching private lessons for cello and this website includes sheet music, practice techniques, tuners, and more for the teacher and the student.
